About this service
The dark streaks on Connecticut roofs are Gloeocapsa magma, an algae that feeds on the limestone in shingles. Soft washing kills it and rinses it away without pressure, which is the only method shingle manufacturers accept.
How we do it
We apply a roof-specific soft wash solution from the ground or roof edge, let it work, and rinse. No pressure touches the shingles. Landscaping is protected and rinsed.
Good to know
- Heavy moss and lichen may take a few weeks of weather to fully release after treatment. That is normal.
- Never let anyone pressure wash an asphalt roof. It strips granules and shortens the roof's life.
- A cleaned roof can stay clear for several years depending on tree cover and sun exposure.
